| | Letty DeLoatch is originally from North Carolina and received her M.Ed. in Art from the University of North Carolina, with special graduate studies at New York University.Letty began working in Yosemite National Park, Ca. in 1991, drawing illustrations for Yosemite site bulletins, presenting painting demonstrations, and teaching drawing classes for park visitors. During 2000, she was the Resident Artist at Thomas Hill's Studio. In 2002, Letty moved to Monterey, Ca. to paint full time. She exhibits her work in various California galleries and teaches watermedia workshops. She continues to pursue her favorite hobby: hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Letty uses water, trees and rock surfaces as inspirations for many of her paintings. Using heavily textured acrylic paste, she creates an impasto surface using paper, fabric, string, etc. to augment her tactile surfaces. I'm not working to do something that has already been done. I try to avoid the predictable. When I am working, I constantly ask myself "what if...?" I am looking for the bold and daring...for the WOW! |
