| | EDUCATION; Sonoma State University-B.A. in studio Art; Special studies at Revere Jewelry Academy in San Francisco; Mendocino Art Center; Monterey Peninsula College. Vanessa Martin grew up in Pasadena, California. From there she traveled to Sonoma Sate University, then to Monterey where she opened her own gallery. She currently works full time in her studio in Monterey, overlooking the beautiful bay. In college, Vanessa experimented with every medium, from pottery to painting to photography. It wasn't until she made her first piece of jewelery that she experienced a definite passion for one particular medium - metal and stones. "Jewelry to me is like wearing a miniature sculpture. It's an art form which combines the unlimited nature of the future and the magical qualities of our oldest civilizations. It is a portable and intimate art that can be worn and constantly enjoyed. Jewelry, I believe, will exist in one form or another forver." |
